Lamington National Park Workshop 2019

I am just recently back from 2 weeks in Queenslands scenic rim photographing and putting an itinary together for a workshop in Lamington NP. The weather was pretty challenging as it did not stop raining but it also presented some great shots after the weather settled some what. This region is stunning and if your willing to get amongst it you will be rewarded. I am looking forward to another trip and taking a group of like minded people in with me so we can enjoy and photograph everything from the birdlife to the fungus. I have invited another very talented photographer to help me on this trip Georgina Steytler who is a very accomplished bird photographer so between us there is going to be a wealth of knowledge to help you get the absolute best out of this trip. Although Georgie has never been to this region before she know how to shoot birds whereever they are. Check out her work on Instagram or her website. So if you want to become a better all round photographer come and join us for our first trip into this region together. Details of this workshop here Lamington National Park bird and landscape workshop .

Sturt Desert Peas "LIFE" sold

So I am sitting with Bernie and Pontip (RFDS nurse) and a couple of others in the Roadhouse in Marree this morning having a chat and a coffee and in walks a gentleman on a mission. He was asking about purchasing my large framed print called LIFE which was hanging on the wall in the dining area pictured here. Within 2 minutes it was sold and paid for. Well thats the quickest sale I have ever had I think of such a large and expensive piece.
Beautifully printed on metallic pearl paper and double matted and framed by Blackman Gallery.
He took it with him so we needed to get it sorted so it was safe for travelling, It was a joint effort as you can see by the pictures here but in no time it was ready to pop in the car. Spose I wiwll have to get another one done now.
Just a shout out to the group he was travelling with across the outback as they were involved in a charity to raise money for pancreatic cancer.
If you want to see more shots of these flowers I have a gallery dedicated to them under my South Australia Gallery called Sturt Desert Peas.

Marree Lake Eyre tour 2018

Thanks for a busy and productive few days. Paul and I enjoyed ourselves and we both learned a great deal. Paul says he has gone from completely ignorant to only ignorant! But he did start from a low base. And he is shooting in manual for the first time in his life. I had long wanted to see Lake Eyre and to do it this way with like minded companions was a real treat. I hope to meet up with you again - maybe Kangaroo Island one day. Regards to Lyall for looking after us so well too.

thanks Duncan

Marree Lake Eyre tour 2018

What a fantastic photography experience this was! I’ve been wanting to see and photograph Lake Eyre for a long time and we had a huge amount of time to do just that. The locations we went to were breathtaking and oh so memorable – we were off the normal tourist trek. This is because we were travelling with a local. The bonus is that this particular local is Julie Fletcher, a multi-award-winning photographer who has private access to properties on the Oodnadatta and Birdsville Tracks – places that, even with permission, you’d have trouble finding on your own.

Everyone on the tour had a great time – we were a diverse group, coming from all states and all kinds of backgrounds. But, the one thing we all had in common was that we were all mad about photography. Julie made sure that we were all getting the best photography experience that we could. We weren’t rushed and we were able to take our time to get our shots from every available angle and point of view. She was considerate, generous, laid back and a whole lot of fun. And, the food! Wow, Lyall sure can cook a mean steak and not one of us ever left the table feeling hungry.

Thanks, Julie for sharing your backyard with us in such a well organised and well-balanced tour – it exceeded all of my expectations!

Marree Lake Eyre tour 2018

Hi Julie,

I'm still in "up in the clouds with delight" mode after your trip, I didn't want that time to end and the whole time I was standing on Lake Eyre I was thinking "I will never step on this again, cherish and make it last. I just love travelling in Central Australia and this one was very special, short and very sweet.

Thank you Julie your tour which has made a huge impact on my photography, I feel more confident, my images and processing have improved so much and I now “look” more carefully for the stories around me. I hope to attend a future workshop to learn, have a lot of fun and enjoy our beautiful country."

Take care and looking forward to more beautiful images from you.

Red Centre Tour June 2018

Liz Smithereen Testimonial Red Centre 2018

The June 2018 Red Centre was my second photo tour with Julie Fletcher as I also did the 2017 Flinders Ranges tour.   I came back because I had a great time and learned so much in the Flinders.

Julie is very passionate about her photography. Those who follow her on Facebook will know that she takes magnificent photos.  She is also an excellent organiser and puts together itineraries that cover a host of wonderful locations with the best possible times of day for each. She includes important details like finding lunch in advance from reliable local spots to ensure the timing is optimum.

Julie is a conscientious teacher and makes sure that everyone is getting the best shots possible.  With different challenges like astro and aerial photography she provides tips on the settings that are required.  This time I learned how to use my wide angle lens more effectively.  With the small number of participants we are not crowded as we take our shots and everyone gets attention when they need it.  You get a chance to concentrate on taking good photos in the company of others with the same aim, without having to 'just get back on the bus' because the schedule is too crowded.  Finally it's a lot of fun making new friends with fellow photo enthusiasts!

I heartily recommend her tours to others.

Marree Workshop March 2015 - Rosalie Dibben

Hi Julie, Thanks for another brilliant workshop! Once again it was full on, but building on from last time meant it wasn't quite so head-spinning as the first one when everything was new. The challenges you set were great for making me think about my shots a bit more and…
