A 4.5 minute slideshow of 48 stunning images backed to a relaxing soundtrack.

Late last year I was approached by a Professor at Western Sydney University inviting me to contribute a chapter in a book that is currently underway called the Handbook of Women and Outdoor Learning. I was a bit dubious about writing a chapter. I actually thought to myself what have I got to offer that people want to read about. Upon talking to Tonia on the phone I actually have quite a bit to contrbute about my quiet journey to the top of my profession from start to now. I wont say finish because I am definately not there yet!

The other concern was that I am not a writer and was not sure where to start or how to put it down and this is still a concern for me but I have decided to give it go as Tonia said to me its time we got up and told our stories as strong independant women. Although I am the only photographer invited to contrbute there are a few other creative and academic women writing their stories also.

I am currently writing my chapter with no title at this stage I trust that will come to me as I keep writing.

One of my images possibly my image called 'GRAVEYARD' which was a finalist in the National Geographic Competition in 2013 will also be used on the cover of this book which I believe should be published later in the year.

I have just done an interview with Better Photography India. India's most popular photography magazine. The theme was astro-photography. The image they chose to publish was a shot taken on Lake Eyre amidst a very large storm front. This particular image was a finalist in the Astro Photography Competition last year in the UK. See the PDF attached with a selection of Photgraphers and their images.

Lake Eyre Tour 1st April 2016

Lake Eyre Tour 1st April 2016

all levels welcome.........

A rare opportunity to see several areas of the Lake in flood. This one's all about getting out amongst it at Lake Eyre and includes an epic scenic flight which will take you as far as the Warburton Groove, this will give you all the advantage of getting some great images from above the ground and a completely different perspective on the area. We will fly over all the major islands where birds congregate. It is looking amazing at the moment and is only getting better. We will also be visiting 2 different areas on the Lake from the comfort of my four wheel drive and this trip includes 1 night camping under the stars and a night shoot at my all time favourite location where I have captured several award winning images. There is water in this area at the moment. The other spot is another great location where salt meets rolling red sand dunes along the edge of the Lake. The contrast between the 2 locations will give you ample time to explore and opportunities to relax experiment and get some stunning images.

There will be time to visit a couple of other iconic spots out here also which include an old ruin and old wagon not to mention the bits and pieces of great camera fodder right in town.

We will have some time spare to have a critique session also and answer any questions you may have in general on processing.

latest News January 2016

Latest News....

My Tasmania trip back in November was very challenging. Travelling with my friend Paula we had some some foul weather but still managed to have a great time exploring the island. I did not take a landscape shot for about 4 days and just opted for wildlife images (thats how bad the weather was). I will be back over there again at the beginning of winter to finalise tour locations and accomodation for 2017 which is pretty exciting. Hopefully those terrible bush fires will all be out by then.

After this trip I was back in Marree for only a few days much to the disgust of my partner Lyall and then had to head back to Murray Bridge to board the Proud Mary Boat for 5 nights cruising the River Murray taking a catalogue of images for the owners to update their website and marketing material. The day of boarding it was 42 degrees and just awful. I photographed everything from food and rooms to wildlife (mainly birds of all descriptions) tours and of course landscape images. I met some great people had fun but I was totally buggered by the end of the trip. The company was ecstatic with the images I produced for them.

Then it was back on Kangaroo Island for Christmas and New Year for a bit of R&R and of course out and about with my cameras. I took a trip out with Marine Adventures and the Dolphin Watch crew monitoring and photographing a huge pod of Dolphins for one  afternoon  just after I arrived on the island and then came down with a virus that put me in bed for several days which was a major downer. After recovering from that I was out and about with my drone whilst the weather was suitable and had some fun capturing some aerial pics with a friend of mine.

Well I am back home again now in the tiny town of Marree (partner Lyall very happy) catching up on a back log of work that is making my eyes water but as its so hot here right now (averaging 40 degrees) its a great opportunity to sit on my butt in airconditioned comfort and catch up which is exactly what I have been doing.

I have also been planning the Lake Eyre Tour which is now online and ready to book. It is in flood again for 2016 and is looking amazing in fact the whole area is looking incredible right now. Check out my latest DVD on Lake Eyre and I also have a stunning new 2017 calendar called Visions of Australia  available for sale.

Marree Workshop March 2015 - Rosalie Dibben

Hi Julie, Thanks for another brilliant workshop! Once again it was full on, but building on from last time meant it wasn't quite so head-spinning as the first one when everything was new. The challenges you set were great for making me think about my shots a bit more and…
