Photographing the Sturt Desert Peas

Well this year has been a good season for the Sturt Pea and has been flowering prolifically in many places in outback South Australia. Over several weeks I was on the hunt for the stunning flower and made it my special project for about a 6 weeks or so visiting several locations at different times in varying light. I now have a great collection of images that I am really proud of and will be starting a gallery just for all the images I have take across the outback of these flowers. They are not the easiest of subjects to photograph well but by trying different compositions and lenses it really was fun and challenging. Check out the gallery for these amazing flowers.

Red Centre Tour September 2015

We have just finished an epic week in the Red Centre with 8 people and a full on schedule of photography. This area is one of my favourites and I have photographed it many times over the last few years on and off. I lived at Yulara several years ago so I am pretty familiar with the best places to visit at the right times for the best light and it holds a very special place in my heart. We started the trip from Alice Springs and then moved on to The West MacDonell Ranges and from there to Kings Canyon, Uluru, Kata Tjuta and last but not least Rainbow Valley before heading back to Alice to end the week. We had a great group of people which made the trip that much more enjoyable and everyone had a great time and captured some amazing images. These trips really do nurture great friendships and are great fun also. Hope to see you one day. Check out some of the images in the participants gallery.

Marree Lake Eyre tour 2018

Thanks for a busy and productive few days. Paul and I enjoyed ourselves and we both learned a great deal. Paul says he has gone from completely ignorant to only ignorant! But he did start from a low base. And he is shooting in manual for the first time in…

Marree Workshop March 2015 - Rosalie Dibben

Hi Julie, Thanks for another brilliant workshop! Once again it was full on, but building on from last time meant it wasn't quite so head-spinning as the first one when everything was new. The challenges you set were great for making me think about my shots a bit more and…
