MY NEWS AND ESCAPADES

Julie Fletcher Photography

To anyone even vaguely considering a photography workshop with Julie, I can’t recommend it highly enough. No matter what your level (and believe me, some of us weren’t nearly as advanced as others!), Julie will guide you through her approach to taking her amazing images - from thinking out of the box about composition, making sure you get the best exposure possible, and generally taking control of your camera - right through to how to put the finishing touches in post-processing..   All wrapped up in a fun weekend full of laughs, great company, great food - and some of the most awe-inspiring landscape you can imagine!  You will come away with a bunch of new skills, new friends, plus some amazing images of your own - you definitely won’t be disappointed.

Epic Lake Eyre 2017

Stunning dry or wet this is a recent video of the area we visit on my workshops. Ever changing untouched and pristine, one one of the only spots that is free from human invasion. Come and join me on the next workshop in the outback and experience it for yourself.

Whats my goal with my workshops?

There a several reasons why people come to my workshops and tours. Aside from photography, these are social events for photographers. And it depends on the needs of the group and individual clients. Software interpretations, how to see, what to look for, workflow, making friends, feeling safe in a group environment, being taken to locations at the right time and local knowledge these are just a few of the elements that are integral in a photo workshop.

Some people just like to relax and switch off from their busy lives and have some "me" time.

The main benefit is to have people leave with new skills and the knowledge they can take with them to apply to future images and locations, and to have knowledge of these locations so that if they return on their own, they’ll know how to get around and how to deal with different light, landscapes and environments.

Flinders Ranges Tour August 2016

Where does one start  -  well my one wish was to learn how to use my camera on manual mode !

My impression of Julie prior to the tour to a week after finishing has been nothing but professional – at the same time I was very much a beginner and at no time did I ever feel as though I was less knowledgeable than anyone else.

Julie was always happy to help with either information, settings, help with composition, lighting and always praising me – which made my 4 days a remarkable experience.

For anyone reading this – Yes I am still using my camera on manual mode!!!!!

ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture, and Histogram have become well known words in my vocabulary.

Not forgetting the following words : composition, hard and soft light, shadows, focus, bracketing, white balance, tripod, light meter, depth of field, and also finally LIGHTROOM !!!!!

Does brain drain come into this !!!!!

Early morning starts – fully packed days – lots of laughs, great company, information, assistance, amazing photos, and great meals – all in all a total success – if you have ever wished

to improve your photography I would firmly recommend doing a Julie Fletcher Photography Tour.

Until we meet again – hopefully sooner than later

Flinders Ranges Tour 2015

What a fantastic experience to attend a wonderful photographic workshop with undoubtedly one of Australia's most talented landscape photographers. After following and admiring Julie's work for some time, it was an honour to travel along side her and see through her eyes to capture some fantastic photos. To have such amazing skills and vision to capture unique award winning images is one thing but to share these skills so generously with others is another....with many one on one lessons. I came away with another way of looking at my photography that has been taken to another level, even resulting in winning an award for one of my images which wouldn't have been possible without Julie's coaching. Her workshops are packed full of knowledge and loads of fun and laughter along the way. Your photography can only grow to another level by talking advantage of one of Julie's great workshops....in her own words "what are you waiting for?"

kind regards
